Murcia has declared culture to be an essential activity, with the mayor launching a ‘COVID Cultural Reactivation Initiative’ which will reactivate the sector with €710,000 of municipal spending (in a city of 450,000 inhabitants).
The calls go out for the categories of performing and plastic arts; poetry and literature; audio-visual arts; artistic experimentation and digital and technological innovation; artistic lighting; large format facilities; photography; design; architecture; artistic direction and social research; anthropological and ethnographic heritage. The selected projects will be developed and implemented during 2020, with the possibility of advanced payment.
Creatives can apply online, and applications will be judged by representatives of City Hall, collectives of artists and creators, and civil society representatives. Applicants can be artists, companies, organisations or associations. Applications will be evaluated on the interest of the project for Murcia City Hall, originality, degree of coherence with the general objectives of and values set forth in the call, innovation, digital content, and coherence between project and budget.
